Observations on the first half with the Red Hawks, 17-10
Michigan earns 17 points in 3 red zone opportunities while the Red Hawks convert two red zones into 10 points. Michigan scored 7 points off two Miami turnovers, and the Red Hawks responded with 10 points off 3 Wolverine giveaways.
Offense was led by Devin Gardner throwing 8 of 13 for 120 yards and a TD. Derrick Green ran 12 times for 78 yards and a TD. Amara Darboh grabbed 4 tosses for 83 yards and a TD. Michigan had 215 in total offense, 95 on the ground with 10 first downs, and were 3 of 7 in 3rd down conversions. Michigan had a 3 and a half minute time of possession advantage which gave them 10 more offensive plays, but lost a two score lead when they turned the ball over 3 times. Devin Funchess didn't dress on offense, and neither did Ray Taylor or Desmond Morgan on defense. Kent Kern had 6 tackles for the Red Hawks.
Defensive highlights included an interception by Jourdan Lewis and a sack by Brennan Beyer. The Wolverines held the Red Hawks to 4 first downs, 88 total yards, and 1 of 6 on 3rd down conversions.
Special Teams continue to show poor coaching by Coach Ferrigno. The Red Hawks noticed the imbalance on the Michigan kickoff team and pooched it to Wyatt Shallman who collided with Justice Hayes for a fumble, and another Miami red zone opportunity which they cashed in for a TD. Matt Wile did hit a field goal.
Second Half shouldn't be close as the talent should separate the two teams in terms of score. Go Blue!
